¡¡READ THIS ENTIRE JOURNAL FROM TOP TO BOTTOM BEFORE DOING ANYTHING REGARDING THE CONTENTS OF THIS JOURNAL!!

You have to write a short story. It can be anything as long as it is a work of fiction; general fiction, realistic fiction, fantasy, sci-fi, mystery, suspense, thriller, I don't care. It has to be a fictional story to qualify for this challenge.

I have only four rules for this challenge:

1. Your margins can be no more than 1" on any side on an 8.5" X 11" or similar-sized page layout (no smaller than 8" X 10" and no bigger than 9" X 12")

2. You must write the story in 12 pt. font, SINGLE SPACED, 1/4-1/2" paragraph indent with right left or justified alignment. (Yes, I still get my left and right confused )

3. You must use a simple, proportional font such as Arial, Times New Roman, Georgia, Tahoma, etc. that is non-distracting. Monospace fonts such as Courier New and Copperplate Gothic are NOT allowed and will result in immediate disqualification.

4. The length of the story must be no less than 5 and no more than 15 pages long, and you must use proper grammar.
     4, A. Use of a third-party proofreader is very much advised, and even I will gladly proofread your story for you as long as the draft I receive is not a final. I must receive the final draft separately.
     4, B. I will not accept half pages and will round the story's length up/down accordingly. Less than 1/2 page = no page. 1/2 page or more = 1 page.

To submit the story:
Send the unaltered final draft to me via e-mail attachment to dragon.architect@gmail.com in .doc or .rtf format. I will check the file extension to ensure it is submitted within challenge guidelines.

You will need to submit the story in its entirety to deviantART, FanFiction.net, or to the internet somehow so that it may be linked to in this journal.

Keep in mind that this is NOT a contest. There will be no winners or losers. The only way you can lose is to cheat yourself or not follow contest guidelines.

Disqualified entries and entries that do not follow challenge guidelines will still receive an honorable mention to showcase the participants' efforts.

You have one month from May 3 to June 3 (31 days) to enter into the challenge and submit your short story. If you wish to accept my challenge and participate, you will send me a note with “writing challenge entry” in the topic OR you can send me an e-mail with the same topic (see the section "To submit the story" for e-mail).
